FOOTBALL.
An attendance of about 8,000 witnessed the Moascar Cup final at New Plymouth on Thursday, behveen Palmerston and New Plymouth High Schools. The game ended in a win for New Plymouth by 10 points (3 tries, one converted) to nil. Taranaki’s boy football prodigy, Brown, the skipper of the New Plymouth High School team, and Taranaki’s rep., more than met his match in “Freddy” Bennett, the Palmerston High School boy, and also Manawatu rep. Both boys are the same age, and each play on the three-quarter line. Brown is a little speedier, but not so strong on his feet, or as quick-witted as Bennett. While both are bom footballers, Bennett possesses more initiative, and on Thursday’s play outshone the Taranaki boy both in defence and attack. The second test match, All Blacks v. New South Wales, will take place at Christchurch to-day.
