HUNT CLUB BALL.
SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL FUNCTION. In order to afford a fitting windup to the Hunt Steeplechase, a local committee consisting of representatives of the Racing Club, Hunt Club and Sports Association, decided to hold a ball, and a committee was formed to arrange and carry out details. About 500 invitations were issued, and judging by the attendance last night the majority put in an attendance. The hall and supper-room were charmingly decorated with coloured streamers, greenery and balloons, and the coloured lights in conjunction with costumes worn gave a pretty effect to the animated scene. About 150 couples took part in the Grand March. The music was supplied by Larkin’s orchestra, and Messrs W. E. Barber, W. T. Jewell, M. E. Perreau and P. Lingard officiated as M’s.C., and the catering was in the capable hands of Mr Perreau. The joint secretaries were Messrs McMun'ay and Ogilvy. During the evening Mr J. Linklater, M.P., presented the trophies won during the day. . A special word of praise is due to Mrs and Miss McMurray for supervising and out the decorative scheme.
