ENTERTAINMENTS

“THE YOSEMITE TRAIL.”

To-night, as the leading feature in a fine Fox programme, “The Yosemite Trail,” starring Dustin Farnum, will he screened at the Town Hall. Set amidst the worldfamed rugged scenery of the Yosemite Valley, this drama of the great outdoors provides Farnum with a role and story specially fitted to his strong acting. As Jim Thorpe, the victim of the treachery of a kinsman, he should capture the approval of his many admirers. He is ably supported by Irene Rich, the delightful English actress who has many successes to her credit. “Wild Women and Tame Lions” should be responsible for a gale of laughter to-night, when it is screened as chief support to the big picture. Usual prices, 9d and Is fid, children 3d and fid. On Tuesday next, “Ebb Tide,” a Robert L. Stevenson story in ejglit reels, will he screened, and should provide first-class entertainment.

ROYAL PROGRAMME TO-NIGHT

Trapped in his own ingenious torture chamber is the fate that finally meets Ling Jo, the evil Tong chieftain, who is the malevolent character in a “Tale of Two Worlds,” at the Royal Theatre tonight. This picturisation is a tale by Governeur Morris, and is remarkable for its ingenious plot and its extraordinary Eastern atmosphere. The love story is enthralling, commencing with the meeting of the American curio hunter and little Sui Sen, who sees him from her balcony. The Chinese wedding is a picturesque scene, and remarkably beautiful, and there are also weird scenes of the New Year celebrations. A Mermaid comedy, “For Land’s Sake,” and as an extra, “Perils of the Yukon,” will also be shown. A cabaret entertainment far excelling anything Broadway’s Gay W’hite Way ever produced for its pleasure-seeking hordes, was staged for the Edward Jose production, “What Women Will Do,” showing at the Royal on Monday. Instead of the usual dancing and singing acts, this cabaret believed in mixing thrills with jazz and food. Accordingly, where the dance floor would have been, there was a huge tank, in which beautiful girls did feats of diving and swimming. Miss Anna Q. Nilsson is the star performer, and how the hero wins her makes a tense human interest story.
