ELECTRIC STREET LAMPS.

SPECIAL COMMITTEE TO REPORT. At Tuesday night's Borough Council meeting, a plan was received from the Horowhenua Electric Power Board, showing the. reticulation of the borough. A covering letter asked that the Council indicate the position of street lamps required, as the work was about to be proceeded with.

Cr. Ross, who is the local representative on the Power Board, said that the Board had made certain reductions in its charges for street lighting since the Council had decided upon the number of street lamps it would require for the borough. He suggested that before the Council decide upon fixing the location of street lamps on the plan, that the whole matter be reviewed. He moved that a special committee consisting of the Mayor, Crs. Bryant and the mover, be set up to go into the matter, and report to the Council. The Mayor seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously.
