ALICE BRADY PLAY,
“The Land of Hope,” a Realart picture starring Alice Brady, is the headliner at the Town Hall Cabaret to-morrow night. This picture shows Miss Brady as a Polish immigrant ' girl, who seeks her fortune in America, along with a little company of compatriots, including her childhood sweetheart. The young lovers think all their troubles will end when they reach America, and that they will quickly earn enough to enable them to marry. But alas for their optimism, they have many difficulties before eventually winning happiness together. A Torcliy comedy, “Torehy’s Knighthood,” is included in the programme. Usual Cabaret prices. Dustin Farnurn, the Fox favourite, will re-appear on Saturday next, in “The Yosemite Trail.”
THE CUB REPORTER. “The. Cub Reporter,” showing at the Royal on Wednesday, called for Chinese underworld scenes, and while many such sets were built and used, the director, Jack Dillon, insisted that to secure the proper realism it would be necessary to go to San Francisco and get some scenes in Chinatown there. On arrival, the company found a tong war well under way, and the police cautioned them about shooting there until it was over. After waiting a week the tong war seemed to develop into a regular war, and the director decided to waste no more time, with the result that for the next three weeks the company risked their lives. You will see all the thrills in “The Cub Reporter,” and marvel on seeing them. A comedy, “A Spooky Romance” and round 11 of “The Leather Pusher’s,” will also be included in this excellent programme.
