ALLEGED THEFT.
JURY DISAGREES.
Wellington, Last Night. Charges of alleged theft of public moneys and forgery were preferred against Frank Victor Couii, in the Supreme Court. Accused, in evidence, denied all knowledge of the offence, and said he knew nothing of the missing tiles. ’He said he received £3OO to take up shares, but had so. He juid lent money to friends. He refused to give their names, but wrote them for the Chief Justice. The jury failed to agree and a new trial was ordered.
