POINT-TO-POINT STEEPLECHASE AT FOXTON. At a meeting of the committee of the • Maniawatu Hunt on Saturday evening (Mr S. R. Lancaster, president in the chair), the following events were arranged to take place at Foxton, on Wednesday, August 29th: — Manawatu Hunt Heavyweight Point-to-Point Steeplechase, first horse trophy value £lO (presented by Foxton licensed victuallers); second horse trophy value £s' (presented by licensed victuallers. Foxton) ; third horse trophy value £2. About 3 miles. Minimum weight 12st. 71b. Herrington Light Weight Point-to-Point Steeplechase, first horse trophy value £lO (presented by Messrs S. R. Lancaster and L. H. Collinson); second horse trophy value £5; third horse trophy value £2. About 2i miles. Minimum weight list, 71bs.
Foxton Point-to-Point Steeplechase (owners up) first horse, trophy value £10; second horse trophy value £5; third horse, trophy value £2. About 2 miles. Minimum weight list. 71bs.
The entry fee was fixed at 10/for each even!; entries to close on August 22, the first steeplechase to start at 2 p.m., and the afternoon’s sport will end up with a drag hunt.
The following officials were appointed to carry out the programme: Judge, Mr S. R. Lancaster; starter Mr J. Shaw; assistant starter, Mr D. McEwen; clerk of the course, Mr 1.. Proctor; judicial committee, Messrs R, A. McKenzie, E. Wood and D. Pringle.
