CHARGE OF THEFT. YOUNG MAN BEFORE COURT. COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. At the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., Frank Bloxsome was charged that on or about June 26, 1923, at Foxton, he did commit t heft of one dog-cart valued at £25 the property of Mark Edwin Perreau. Detective-Sergeant Quirke conducted the case for the police. The accused was not represented by counsel. •" In outlining the ease for the police, Detective-Sergeant Quirke said the facts were that the accused had allegedly removed a dog-cart, the property of Mr Perreau, from Woodroofe and Ries’ auction room at Foxton, and he had subsequently been arrested at Featherston. Mark Edwin Perreau said be was the owner of the dog-cart mentioned in the charge. He had torwarded the cart to the auction room for sale prior to June 26. Accused bad no authority to take possession of it. George Thomas AVoodroofe deposed that the dog cart was received at the auction rooms for sale and on June 27 it was missing. Police evidence having been given as to the arrest of accused, he was asked how lie pleaded. The accused: I plead guilty to taking the dog-cart but not to thieving it. A plea of not guilty was accordingly entered, and the accused was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. - The police made no objection to bail being granted, but the accused said he did not want it.
