SHANNON BRIDGE
REPORT OF ENGINEERS AWAITED.
The report of the engineers of the various public bodies in the Mamiwatu river area on the serious condition of the Shannon bridge, owing to river erosion, has not yet been presented to the public bodies concerned and the settlers in the c<>uns served by the bridge are stated to he somewhat impatient at the delay. The special conference of representative.-: from the public bodies interested in the bridge, which was held nearly two months ago, instructed the engineers to report and submit some scheme for the protection of the bridge one month from the day of meeting, but so far nothing definite has been decided upon. In conversation with a Standard reporter Mr R. Edwards, engineer to the Shannon Borough Council, stated that he could not say when the report would he ready. “In the meantime,” he said, “the position with regard to the bridge lias not improved and the river still continues to cal into its banks. The public arc becoming impatient at the delay,” he added.
