PERSONAL

The Rev. Frank McDonald is confined to his bed with an indisposition.

Mr and Mrs R. Bryant are on the sick list, but on enquiry this morning we are pleased to state that they are making good progress towards recovery. Mr and Mrs W. T. Jewell entertained Mr and Mrs A. E. Green and family at a farewell social evening at their residence last evening. Mr Jewell, at a suitable juncture, expressed regret at the impending departure of' the Green family from Montoa. Mr Green had taken an active interest in educational matters in Montoa and was an enthusiastic official of the Foxton Racing Club. He referred to the willing help Mrs Green had given to all.social affairs and in church work. Miss Green had officiated as organist in their little church and had helped in other ways. Mr Colin Green would also be missed in athletic circles as lie had been prominent in forming the Moutoa Football Club. Mr .Jewell’s remarks were received with applause and the singing of “They are Jolly Good Fellows.” Owing to indisposition, Mr Green was unable to he present but Mr Colin Green briefly thanked Mr Jewell for his kindly remarks on behalf of the family. The wish was expressed that the family would settle in the district. Musical items were contributed by several present and the thanks of those present were accorded to the host and hostess.
