RAURIMU SETTLER MISSING.
Taumarunui, Last Night
William McKay, a well konwn settler near Raurimu, has been missing for about a fortnight. He was last seen in this district on July 12, at Ohakune, when he stated he was going home to Raurimu. He did not arrive borne and it is reported he was seen a few days ago in Auckland. As McKay had been in indifferent health for some time, his relatives and friends are anxious. The missing man is tall, with a moustache, and wearing a grey suit.
OLD MAN FOUND HANGING,
Wellington, Last Night
John Price, aged 79 years, a retired labourer, who had been confined to bed with a cold, was found on Saturday morning hanging on a peg behind his bedroom door, with a rope round his neck. When found lie had been dead for some hours. UNKNOWN FOUND DROWNED. Dunedin, Last Night. The decomposed body of a well-dressed man, as yet unidentified, was found in the Molvneux River, near Alexandra, yesterday. TREE FELLING TRAGEDY. Ashburton, Last Night. “No accident for a long time past has merited such sincere sympathy from all parts of the country,” said the eoroner respecting Henry Bennett Rountree, aged 26 years, on whom a tree fell at Tinwald. Deceased’s father, in fastening back a branch that was pressing deceased’s leg, cut him severely, the resultant loss of blood contributing to his death. A verdict was returned accordingly.
