THEFT FROM LABOUR DEPARTMENT.

YOUNG CLERK CHARGED. John Craig Dill, a young clerk in the employ of the Labour Department, stepped into the dock at the Wellington Police Court yesterday to answer a charge of stealing £IOO 6s 6d, (he property of the New Zealand Government. Chief-Detective Kemp intimated that, a remand until Tuesday next would be necessary. “I understand that the accused intends to plead guilty,” lie added. The remand was granted, bail being granted in the sum of £SOO or two sureties of £250 each.
