FATAL CYCLING ACCIDENT.

YOUTH KILLED AT PALMERSTON NORTH.

COLLIDES WITH ANOTHER CYCLIST.

An accident occurred just beyond the Fitzherhert bridge, Palmerston North, nt-6.20 on Sunday evening, resulting in the death of a lad aged 19 years, who resided with his parents at Tiritea.

The boy was riding a bicycle down the hill from Tiritea and at the corner of the Shannon road, collided with Mr William Thomas McCulloch, who. in company' with Mr Erie David Conquest, was cycling in the opposite direction.

Dr. Barnett was summoned, but on arrival found that young Hart had disloented his neck and death must have been instantaneous. It is stated that none of the three cyclists had lights. Two of the deceased’s brothers are employed by the P. and T. Department at Palmerston North.

An inquest into the circumstances surrounding the death of Charles Richard Hart, was formally opened before Mr A. J. Graham, J.P., at Palmerston North yesterday and adjourned until 9.30 this morning.

The late Mr Charles, Richard Hart is a nephew of Mr W. Hart, of Foxton.
