Foxton (>, Weraroa 0. FOXTON JUNIORS V. KOPUTAROA. The above game was played at Weraroa on Saturday. Foxton lost; the toss and kicked off against the wind. Koputaroa’s heavy forwards immediately set up a strenuous attack which kept the yellows busy in their own twenty-five. From. a dribbling rush the ball crossed the goal line and was forced by two Foxton players and a Koputaroa man, to whom a try- was awarded. The kick at goal failed. Koputaroa 3, Foxton nil. For a few minutes play ranged up and down the field. From in (lie loose C. Procter secured possession and at once made tracks for the Reds’ goal and after a long run scored near the corner. T. Carter, with a well-judged kick, added the major points. Foxton 5, Koputaroa 3. '
Play then became fast and furious and the weight began to tell upon the lighter Foxton pack and at last the Reds succeeded in penetrating the defence. The try was not converted. Koputaroa 6, Foxton 5. Open play then followed and resulted in a penalty being awarded to the Reds who added another 3 points to their score. Koputaroa 9, Foxton 5. Half-time was then declared. On resuming play both teams made strenuous efforts to score and though play was in Foxton’s favour, no change in the score was effected and the game ended Koputaroa 9, Foxton 5. Mr Kingi officiated as referee.
