SUBMARINE SECRET.
HOW U-BOATS WERE SWEPT PROM CHANNEL. Vice-Admiral Keyes, speaking at Folkestone, revealed a remarkable submarine seei'et showing liow the sinking of a German submarine at Waterford assisted the Dover patrol to clear the Straits of U boats. When the submarine was raised it was found to contain plans for a submarine attack, including instructions how to circumvent a net barrage by getting under it or over it at high tide. The Admiralty immediately organised a large number of boats, manned by fishermen, stretching from Folkestone to Cape Grisnez, "burning enormous Brock flares. The tonnage lost in the Channel was reduced from 70,000 to 8,00 a week and thirteen U boats are now at the bottom of the Channel between Folkestone and Grisnez.
