MURRAY RETAINS LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE.
FIGHT STOPPED IN 14th ROUND. Wellington, Last Night. Les. Murray (Southland) defeated Clarrie Blackburn in the Town Hall to-night, and thus retained the light-weight championship of New Zealand. Blackburn did all the attacking in the first seven rounds, but Murray showed superior ring-craft. From the tenth round onwards Blackburn took a great deal of punishment, but retaliated gamely. The referee stopped the fight in the fourteenth round, when Blackburn was almost out.
