METHODIST CHURCH.
RETIREMENT OF REV. L. MINIFIE.
A largely attended meeting of officials representing the various posts of .the Foxton Circuit was held in the Methodist Church last week. The Circuit steward, Mr J. Banks, presided. The Rev. J. R. Richards, chairman of the District, was present and introduced the business of Mr Minifie’s retirement. Tlie distriet chairman expressed deep regret that Mr Minifie found it necessary to leave the active work of the ministry, but said the church must leave Mr Minifie free to regain normal health. Several of the officials spoke in the heighest terms of the work rendered to the church by the retiring minister. The following resolution was carried unanimously: “That this meeting of officials of Foxton Circuit prut on record the splendid work done by Mr Minifie for the church, deeply regretting the need for his retirement and wishing him speedy return to normal health.” Air Minifie suitably acknowledged the expression of goodwill contained in the resolution.
Arragements were made in connection with the District Chairman for a supply to commence work in the Circuit the Sunday after Mr Minifie leaves Foxton. The names of several ministers likely to be available for next year’s appointment were submitted to the meeting and arrangements made to secure a definite appointment. Mr Minifie intimated that he would close his ministry in Foxton on the second Sunday in August, after which it is his intention to enter into business, continuing his association with the church as an official and lay preacher.
