Amongst the information contained in tilt: Financial Statement is a return showing the payments for pensions made during the year ended March oi, 1023, the sums under the various headings being as follows: —War pensions, £1,430,392; Old-age pensions, £< tw ? - 2i;j • widows’ pensions, £IBB,OO-1; epidemic pensions, £s2,df 1; Maoii wai pensions, £.'34,110; miner, s . pensions, -r-ii • pensions under Civil Service \cl 19U3 £2(3,937; military pensions under Defence Act, 1909, £3058; pensions under Judicature Act, 1908, £2414; police pensions, £4 1 4; sundry pensions and annuities, £4344; tota £2.589,838. From this total is deducted £52 329, representing £25,047 from national endowments on account of old :me pensions, £2Oll from gold duty in respect of miners’ pensions and £9l 17L from sundry refunds of all classes of pensions, leaving a net charge against the Consolidated Fund <>t £2.531 -509.
