RENT RESTRICTION.

ACT EXTENDED FOR A YEAR. Wellington, Last Night. Rent restriction was the subject of a question asked in the House this afternoon by Mr A. R. Wright (Wellington South). Mr Wright wanted to know if the Government had decided oil a course of action with regard to the Rent Restriction Act. which expires shortly.

The answer was given by the Minister in charge of housing. Hon. G. J. Anderson, who said that Cabinet had decided to extend the operation of the Act to July 31. 1024, that was, to a date shortly after flic opening of the next session of Parliament, and the intervening time would give an opportunity for ascertaining how the new system of housing would affect the position.
