FAMOUS SURGEON HONOURED.
In recognition of his original work in facial surgery, the University of Birmingham has conferred on Dr. H. P. Piekerill, C.8.E., of Otago University, Dunedin, the degree of Alas ter of Surgery. Dr. Piekerill, who is in charge of the Dental School at the Otago University, is considered by the medical faculty as one of the world's lending plastic surgeons. During a recent visit to the University, our representative was privileged to see photographic reproductions of some of the marvellous results of this surgeon’s skill in the transforming of facial disfigurements caused by wounds and disease, to normal features. The honour conferred upon this famous surgeon is well deserved and adds lustre to the University.
