HOSPITAL ERROR.

CHLOROFORM POISONING

A verdict of “death by misadventure” was recorded at a Watford inquest on Annie Eliza Fiohlmrn, aged 25, who died from chloroform poisoning in the district hospital before an operation. It was stated that chloroform was administered to the woman by means of a special apparatus which had been put together wrongly. The effect was that pure chloroform instead of chloroform vapour was sprayed in the patient's mouth. The jury added a rider that in future the theatre si>tor should be responsible for all apparatus and instruments in the operating theatre.
