COOPER TO DIE.
EXECUTIVE COUNCIL ENDORSES DEATH SENTENCE. Daniel Richard Cooper, convicted of murdering an infant at Newlands is to pay the full penalty. His case was considered at a meeting of the Executive Council held at Government House, Wellington, on Monday afternoon, His Excellency the Gov-ernor-General, Viscount Jellicoe, presiding. The whole of the facts were considered, and the executive endorsed the sentence of death imposed by Mr Justice Chapman after a lengthy trial. Particulars as to, the time and place of execution were not included in the official announcement covering the executive’s decision.
