SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the local State School Committee was held last night. Present: Messrs Hornblow (chairman), Geo. Coley, Jno. Ross, Stevenson, Perreau, Rimmer, Roore (secretary) and the head-, master (Mr Banks). Apologies for absence were rceived from Messrs Pearson and Cowley. Correspondence of a formal nature was read and received from the Education Board. The Chairman’s action in conferring with the Board’s architect on certain matters in connection with the school building and proposed alterations was endorsed. Mr Colev was accorded a vote of thanks, for supervising fencing and other work at the school during the month. It was resolved to apply to the Board for a subsidy re fencing in the girls’ play ground The question of rent of the old school house was left in the hands of Mr Coley with power to act. The headmaster reported that the roll 'number for last month was 430 and the average attendance 398.8. Several matter that required attention were also referred to. Mr Coley was authorised to bring down a report re improvements to the playing area. _ It was decided to ask the Boai d s architect and secretary to visit the school and confer with the committee on certain contemplated alteration?: and Tepnirs. Accounts amounting to £24 3/10 were passed for payment. Messrs Coley and Runnier were appointed visitors for the month.
