We have just received from the publishers (M srs Gordon and Gotch, Aust. Ltd.) the following mn- *■-- ies for re.lew purposes, per Mr R. M. Pa rites.
Premier Maga- ; The June issue of this iiiaga nc contains a storv of swift justice coming out of the -ea, to blaze for a moment into blood and fire and to sink again into peace. “Heaven T Pud,” by Albert Wetjen, a most powerful long complete' novel. Other interesting stories are: “The Real Comrade” by William Caine; “The Girl "from Paris,” by Robert W. Chambers; “Well Away.” by P. Morton Howard, and an animal story entitled “The Intruders,” by Albert Payson Terbune and many other stories and features, both serious and entertaining help to:make this a real good number.of the Premier Magazine.
Yellow Magazine. —“The Awakening of Mr Appel ton,” a new story by Leslie Beresford, appears in the May number of this magazine. This is a most powerful story full of thrilling adventure. Other stories display the attractive tnlcnls of Anthony Carlyle, Harold Alen, Edward 1 Snoli, W. A. Fraser, T. Russell Warren and others. All stories are fully illustrated. Sovereign Magazine.—The wellknown author, Eden Phillpotts, I writes a stirring mystery novel in the May issue of + his magazine. Other stories display the attractive talents of T). R. Lane, Christine Oertling, E. R. Punshon, William F. McMorrow, A. 0. Greenwood and j others. E. Almaz SPout writes a thrilling story in this number entitled “The Little Brown Woman.” The story of the new Him drama, “The Sins of the Parents,” is also given and the cast. All article:- in this interesting magazine arc fully illustrated. Weldon’s Bazaar of Children’s Fashions, .Tune Number. —Free patterns arc given in tins number for making a girl’s dress and coal, 14 to 10 years, a girl’s kilted dress, 6 to 8 years, child’s slip-on-frock, 6 to 8 years and child’s play suit, 2 to 4 years, and the fullest direct ions for cutting out and making up these splendid designs. A free dressmaking lesson is also given and hints on clothes for the “times,” also how to dress baby and the toddler, the hoy and his needs, nursery fare. etc. The Green Magazine. —This magazine is really worth looking foiward to. It contains a number of
very exciting and interesting short stories by well-known writers. The last chapter of the serial “The Impossible Brute” is also contained in the pages of this number. This magazine is a great companion on winter nights before a good fire. Do not forget to get the latest copy of the “Yellow” magazine.
“AUSSIE.” The June number of “Aussie,” just to hand, shows a distinct improvement in the New Zealand section. The writers and artists evidently are finding a better standard •-> “Aussie” than anything previous .opportunity has given them, and as time goes on, no doubt New Zealand will be able to boast of quite a large number of talented pen men. As it is, much good humonrou ' work i being produced and'it wou.d n pP that the host of it is being contributed to “Au ! ” The cover, which is a, very sir ig one, is by a New Zealand artist, Tom Wul, but apart from the artists and writers who have arrived, there appears in the cation work by a number of new discoveries, k special mission of “Aussie” it would seem, is to discover this new talent and present it to its readers in the most cheerful form.
