UNITED CHURCH SERVICE.

The united church service was held in the Presbyterian Church on Tuesday night. There was a fair attendance and the Rev. McDonald conducted the service and Ensign Huston gave the address. Before Mrs Huston spoke the Rev. McDonald said there was a time when women w’ere not allowed to speak in the kirk but that day had gone. Mrs Huston smilingly reminded them of Deborah, who was a judge in Israel in the olden days. The address was based on Romans, chap. XII, Ist verse: “Present, your bodies a living sacrifice wholly acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” In the words of Henry Varley to Moody God is waiting to show to the world what He can do for a man who is fully consecrated to Him. Moody said “By the Grace of God I’ll be that man.” God took hold of Moody and shook the world by him. Bishop Taylor promised God that he would do as much hard thinking and planing for Him as he would do for money and he did it. John Knox, General Booth and John Wesley were men in their day who presented their bodies a living sacrifice and through them God did a mighty work. God wants our bodies and talents while we are alive, not when life is over and the undertaker begins his work. The speaker dealt at length with the avenues of service for conseci’atecl live*.
