YOUNG PEOPLE’S SOCIAL EVENING.

Last evening a successful social gathering was held in the local Presbyterian Sunday-school hull where a goodly number of young people I gathered to spend a pleasant hour or two in songs, games and social intercourse. The leader of the Bible class, Mr Davidson, extended a eorI dial welcome to all present. Then i followed the singing of a number of popular choruses which paved [ the way for a warmth of friendly 1 feeling and hearty goodwill, the cre-« I ation of which was the aim of the j gathering. In a guessing competition, which j evoked mirthful rivalry, Miss McMurray gained first place and was presented with an appropriate present as a reward for her quick and accurate answers. The hearty cot operation of all in the games which I were afterwards indulged in deI monstrated clearly that youth is iui deed the springtime of life, i The success of the evening’s fun i was due to the efforts of Mrs John i Ross, who ably arranged the supper i and was untiring in her seal to make every one feel “at home,” and to Mesdames McDonald and Parkes, | who officiated as chaperons. The ■ Bible Class members sincerely thank ! ail those who kindly sent eontribu- ' tions for the supper.
