UNITED CHURCH SERVICE.
The united week night church service was held on Tuesday (‘veiling in the Salvation Army Hall and was well attended. At the cuminenI'l'iuon! Ensign Huston led the (‘(immunity singing of several familiar hymns. The devotional section of the meeting was aided by the devout prayers of several of.' those present. The address was delivered by the Rev. E. McDonald, who based his address on the words : “Christ Jesus came unto the World to save Sinners . . . “As the Father hath sent Are so send I you.” The preacher said the first section of the text was a tremendous statement —that men are saved from sin by Christ. The second part of the text was equally startling—Christ here declares that men are to carry on the work of saving others. On the front of the Mission House in Canton, the text was justifiably translated in Chinese: “Christ came into the world expressly to save sinners.” This was true, for Jesus came and lived and died only for Ibis purpose. Mon saved by Him arc saved to continue the same work. The difficulty in our time is that men are too self-centred and fail to show this Christ love for lost fellow men. This was after exhibited by men who professed i&ligion neglecting even regular Chur-
ch attendance. Two tilings aided ■ -ur Lord in His work, power and love. Alert to-day need the Power of the Spirit. Christ loved even unto death. Love shrinks not from sacrifice. No sacrifice is too great for love. This point was strikingly illustrated by the speaker. “Let us consecrate ourselves now,” said the speaker, “for the salvation of men, for ‘Christ came expressly to save sinners.’ He says to us: ‘As the Father hath sent me, so send I von.’ ”
The meeting next Tuesday eveningwill he held in the Anglican Church. The address to be given by the Rev. L. Mini fie. The Ministers’ Association desires it to be understood that these meetings are open to everyone desiring to attend.
