ASSOCIATION NOTES.
A League match was played loeallv on Saturday on Russell St. ground between the Rangers (Palmerston North) and Foxton. The Rangers won the spin of the coin and decided to defend the north dnd. The hall was set in motion by Jenvev for Foxton. Give and take play was the order of the game and after about seven minutes’ play the Rangers opened the score. Give and lake play again followed and ere the whistle blew for half-time, the game stood 2 all. On resuming play Foxton siarted in good ; style, led by their captain, who passed the ball out to Francis, he making a line run down the Held and ended by putting the shot which beat the Rangers’ goalie all the way. The ball again in motion, the Foxton boys were again aggressors and .1 envoy when tit a range of about 2’> yards, put one of his old-timers in, which heat the goalie. The Rangers tried hard to equalise but they found the Foxton defence very safe, especially Wilby who played a perfect game, although by steady determination the Rangers found the goal at last. When the whistle blew the score stood o—4 in favour of Foxton.
The second half of the game was lull’d fought, both teams playing good football and sticking to it hard and fast all the way through. The goals were scored for Foxton as follows: —Jetivev 3, Francis 1, Phillips 1. Foxton have played three League matches io date, resulting as follows: Won two, lost one, 4 points for, against, 2.
