THE LATEST MAGAZINES.

“AUSSIE.

Sixteen pages are again devoted to the New Zealand section of “Aussie,” which is inserted in the centre of the Australian edition. “Aussie,” in itself, is a line publication, full of the humour that appeals to the Australasian people, but with the addition of the New Zealand section it is extraordinary value for the price. Among the artists in the New Zealand section are: —F. 11. Cumberworth, Tom Bell, C. Mclntyre, A. S. Patersib, K. Alexander, and there are also a number of new artists whose work appears for the first time. This latest number is a particularly fine one.

LIFE. To the many people who appreciate good reading in the form of serials, short stories, special articles, etc.., the May issue of the popular magazine, “Life,” should make a great appeal. Always a magazine of excellent quality, it has greatly improved in the past twelve months. One feature in particular, entitled “The Loss of the Treasure Ship,” is of exceptional interest, telling as it does of the loss of the “General Grant” in IHtiS. There are many other exertion I features in the current issue amongsl them two South Sea Island laics. “Life” is on sale at all bookstalls. “THE DETECTIVE”

The February 16th edition of “The Detective” magazine proves to be full of interest. Ex.-Chief Departmental Inspector I. Gough continues his series of very interesting articles and this month deals with “Swindlers” he has come in contact with. Chief Inspector E. -ITaigh contributes a very exciting story of true life entitled “Sammy.“ The magazine contains some t wonts highly interesting stories by noted writers. The serial, “The Man who Lost an Hour,” is also continued. This is a very gripping serial and something out of the ordinary. On the whole “Detective” is a very fine production.
