LONDON WOOL SALES.
Messrs Levin and Co. Ltd. have received the following cable from their London agents, dated the 24th April, 1923. — “Wool sales have opened. There is a large attendance of havers and competition is keen. As compared with the closing rates of the last,series:—Best Merinos 2d per lb dearer; average Merinos 2d per lb dearer; line flnlfbreds, 50/56’s, 2d per lb. dearer: halfhreds, 48/50’s lid per lb. dearer; tine crossbreds, 46/48’s, Id per lb. dearer, medium crossbreds 44 '4(i’s. Id per lb. dearer; coarse crossbreds, 40/44’s :fd per lb. dearer: low crossbreds, 3(>/40’s ffd j»er lb dearer, slipes 71 per <ient dearer." The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram dated 25th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand. — “Wool. The London sales opened with a very large attendance of buyers, the Continent and America being well represented. A keen general demand was experienced and competition was brisk. Compared with the closing rates for last series the prices for Merino, line and medium Crossbreds were 5 per cent to 71 per cent, dearer; coarse Crossbreds 71 to 10 per cent, dearer."
