WEDDING.

HUGHES—BOWE.

A wedding which created a good deal of local and district interest took place on Thursday last, Mr John Hughes and Mrs Hughes, Mr o.Jhn Hughes and All's Hughes, of' Palmerston North was united to Annie Frances, daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Bowe of Moutoa. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Fa I her Forrest al, assisted by the Rev. Father Doolaghty. The church was tastefully decorated for Ihe occasion and the service was fully choral. The bride looked charming in a beautiful dress of cream c.barmante and georgette with a girdle of silver roses, embroidered tulle veil held in place by hand of silver roses and carried a bouquet of while roses and dahlias and asparagus fern. She was attended by her sistei', Miss Julia Bowe, and Miss Kathleen Hughes, sister of the bridegroom. The former wore a frock of pale pink georgette, with overdress of silver lace, with hat of black velvet and silver lace and carried a bouquet of hydrangea and autumn leaves. Miss Hughes’ dress was of apricot crepe do chene, hat of black velvet and bouquet of bronze dahlias and autumn leaves. The bride’s mother wore black silk and black hat and carried a posy of violets. The bridegroom’s mother wore a grey tailor-made costume and black hat and carried a bouquet of pansies and maiden-hair fern. The “best man” was Mr Clift Spelmnn, cousin of the bride, and groomsman Mr Frank Bowe, brother of the bride. After the ceremony, the wedding breakfast was served in a marquee on the lawn at the residence of the I bride’s parents. The guests numbered about 90. Mr and Mrs Hughes left by motor in the afternoon for Auckland and Rotorua. The bride’s travelling dress was of navy gnrbieord and hat to match. The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a travelling rug, and to the chief bridesmaid an attache case with silver fittings and to Miss Hughes a gold chain and pendant. Among the numerous presents was a beautiful silver tea service from Moutoa and Marotiri residents.
