CORRESPONDENCE.
(To The Editor.)
Sir, —In your report of my speech given on Tuesday night, you made me to say “That three-fourths of the maintenance of £l,lOO was spent in Main Street, whereas it should have read “Main streets,” that is Park St., Main St., Union St., Johnston St., and Russell St. Then in regard to water and drainage connections costing too much, you omitted to mention that I said the by-laws should be revised s<> that much cheaper connections could be installed and yet be quite as efficient for the property owners should not have to pay for unnecessary material. In speaking about the s.s. Kennedy, I think that every credit should be given to those -pub-lic-spirited citizens who invested money in order to obtain a boat for the Foxton trade: but-owing to the number of times she has been stranded on the bar or in the river, she has done this port a tremendous amount of harm by giving the port a bad name. As proof of this insurance companies will not now insure vessels or cargo coming to Foxton. Thanking you in anticipation.— Yours, etc.. R. McMURRAY.
