U.A.O.D. LODGE.

FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. * (Contributed.) The ordinary fortnightly meeting ,of the Manawatu U.A.O.D. Lodge, No. 73, was held in All Saints’ school-room on Friday night, at :7.30 p.m. There was a good attendance of members present. After the routine business had been disposed of the lodge decided to circularise members Concerning the matter of taking part in the proposed fortnightly euchre tournaments during the winter months. In the matter of the Anzae Day procession, the lodge decided to request the officers and brethren to turn out in full force on that day. Bros. Hinds and Carter were held responsible for making suitable arrangements with the authorities in charge of the .procession. At the conclusion of the meeting the brethren adjourned to Walls’ where they indulged in a five minutes progressive euchre tournament- for which Bro. D. Ball donated a gold-mounted pencol, inwardly fitted with a case of spare lead and erasure. The tournament lasted for the best part of an hour and was won by Bro. Royal who was successful in obtaining five wins. The results were as follows :

Royal 5 wins, Cowley I, McKnight 4, Dawson 3, R. Chaffey 3, T. Chnffey 3, R. Parker 3, T. Carter 2, D. Ball 1, R. Roore 1. On behalf of the lodge and donor Bro. T. Chaffey, P.A., presented the winner with the^ trophy and congratulated him on his success. The speaker also commended Bro. D. Ball for his liberality. The winner, on rising to return thanks, was greeted with a round of applause, and as his feelings overwhelmed him he had to speak per medium of an interpreter. During (he course of his remarks lie admitted that his attendance at lodge did not count for much, but now he had robbed the constant attendees of the trophy, he would do his duty by attending the meetings in the future. The proceedings were brought to a close by a sumptuous supper, generously provided by Mrs YY alls.
