DAWBKirs V. FOXTOX. (By ltambler.l The above match was played on M't McMurray’s paddock on Saturday. The local players representing the club were Messrs 5 oung, Hinds, Nixon, ChalTey, .1 envoy, Morgan, Winstanley. Breniner. Mouusoy, J. MeKnight and Francis. The ball being set in motion. Dawhers took pos-cs-ion and made for goal but were up against sound local defence. The local boys, however. soon transferred play into the visitors’ quarters where their goalie was called upon to save. Dawbers not to bo denied, again went down the Held and looked very dangerous when one of the local players handed the ball in the penalty area and the referee awarded Dawbers a penalty kick, which, on being taken, was placed in a very good position hut Dawbers found that they could not catch the Fox ton goalie napping for he dived full length at the goal and .just manag<>il to turn the hall round the post ami a corner kick resulted, which v.a> cleared well tip the field. The local boy> then gave Dawbers sonic defence work but they proved equal I i the attack. Again Dawbers went down the lield in combination to meet with a break-up by tile local backs, who returned the ball to the visitors* quarters and a pot at goal, well placed, was saved by Dawbers "oalic. Mid lield play ensued for a lime, Imt Foxton, getting possession, succeeded in being awarded a penally. The kick was saved by the opponent'-, goalie in tint' stylo and tin' whistle sounded half time with honours even. On resuming, plnv was hard ami fast all the way. each side, in turn, having a run down the lield itttlv to ho stopped by sound defence. On Dawbers forcing a line kick, winch on being taken was the means of netting the lirst goal. This aroused the local hoys to greater efforts and they tried hard to equalise ami after an anxious time for Dawber’s defence, the hall went out of play. Again mid-field play ensued, each having their turn until Dawber’s got going again and managed to add another goal to their score and when the whistle blew time, the scores read as follows; Dawber’s 2, Foxton nil.
