SENSATIONAL MISHAP.
CAR CRASHES INTO BRIDGE
A MIRACULOUS ESCAPE
Dannevirke, April 10
A rather sensational motor mishap occurred early on Sunday morning when a car containing Tvan L. Knight (the young airman who was in the recent forced landing at New Brighton) and L. Cowan, was proceeding south from Dannevirke, and crashed into the side of a bridge in Rnwhiti street. The high-powered Packard stripped the whole of the side protecting rails and traversed l lie structure with two wheels on it and two wheels over the edge. The bridge is 30 feet long over a creek 30 feet below and but for the outside wheels bumping the projecting stay planks the car must have toppled over. It went a couple of chains beyond the bridge before it. pulled up. It then caught fire. Neither of the occupants was hurt, but (lie car was extensively damaged.
