At a sale by auction at Elton, near Mallook, England, three cottages, all tenanted were knocked down to Mr Jacob Mnrsden for £SO, or £lB 13s 4d each. A doctor giving evidence at Edmonton County Court was handed some notes in nis own handwriting, which he confessed he could not read. “My secretary can read it very well,” he said. A baby was found in (lames in a wicker cradle at Marslon, Cheshire, and died from burns. The fire is believed to have been caused by sparks from the kitchen grate setting the cradle and child’s clothing alight. Because an asylum patient named Atilio Acconci, at Yolterra, in the province of Pisa, would not rise when called three male attendants kicked and beat him. In the evening Acconci died. The attendants are under arrest.
Out of admiration for Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth, the boy Emperor of China, who though not reigning’ is well treated by the Chinese Government, has adopted the name of Henry for himself and of Elizabeth for his bride.
“I was once a newsboy myself,” said Mr R. R. Fairburn, Liberal M.P., fcfor Worcester City, at a breakfast given by him to the local newsboys. “In Canada, when Quite young,” he continued, “1 look round newspaper's for my aunt. Returning to London, I was employed as a newspaper boy on a London railway station, working 12 hours a day for 6s a week.”
