"THE CRUCIFIXION.”
Last Friday evening a large congregation assembled in-All Saints’
Church to hear a rendering of the above sacred cantata by the eomjl'bined choir, under the conductorof Mr R. T. Betty. This is the second time the choir has sung this piece; it was sung on Good Friday, 1922, there being about 30 members in the choir on that occasion. This time there were only eighteen, and considering® how few practices-were held (owing to absence of some members) the cantata was delivered really very well. The bass solos were sung very cre, ditably by Rev. Walton and Messrs Head and Osborne, and the tenor solos by Messrs Poole and Barr were much appreciated. The duet by Rev. Walton and Mr Poole and choruses by tenors and basses were distinctive features, while the full choruses, “Appeal of the Crucified” and “God So Loved the World,” and the •hymns, were a,n inspiration to those present. The perfect harmony. of the hymns was particularly pleasing. * The offertory which amounted to £2 15s, went to the. choir funds.
