A GENEROUS GIFT.

IN AID OP AGRICULTUItAL SCIENCE. MADE BY SIR WALTER BUCHANAN. Wellington, Last Night. At a meeting of the Victoria College Council to-night a letter was received from Sir Walter Buchanan of Masterton, conveying a donation of £IO,OOO to the College, with a view to founding or assisting to found, a Chair at that institution for the study and dissemination of science as applied to agricultural pursuits.

On the motion of Sir Robert Stout, the Couucil decided to forward a letter to Sir Walter, expressing thanks for his generosity and set up a committee, consisting of the chairman of the Council, the chairman of the Professorial Board and Professor Adamson, to meet Sir W alter, and deal further with ihe subject.
