Manawatu Herald THURSDAY, MARCH 8, 1923. BEAUTY SPOT MARRED.
“THE effect of the improvements to the old cemetery as seen from Main Street is marred in the foreground hy the rubbish and lack of footpath,” said the Rev. Mr Mail’s to our representative this week. Mr Mairs is an expert in beautifying schemes and Foxton is his debtor in this connection. His remarks, however, will be endorsed by the general public. The Beautifying Society has expended considerable sums of money in levelling, fencing and otherwise converting this neglected piece of ground into a beauty spot. We believe the society made a reasonable request to the Council to form a. footpath along the south side facing the main thoroughfare, but the work has not been done. We hope the Council will, as an act of encouragement to the Society and for the sake of public appearances, remove the rubbish and form a neat footpath as suggested.
