“AUSSIE” REVIEW.
“AUSSIE” FOR FEBRUARY,
In the February “Aussie” just to hand there are over 70 Australasian artists and writers represented.
Russom, the world famous artist, (whose work appears regularly in “Aussie”), is at his best in this issue with a tine full page picture sounding great depths of reality. Cl. K. Towns'hend is also represented and he strikes the lighter vein with a heavy woman and a featherweight man as his theme. Ellis Silas, who has recently returned from Papua and who by his public exhibition of painting of Papuan life and scenery has created so much interest, continued his “Life in Papua” series in “Aussie.” The subject this month is a particularlyinteresting and humourous study of child life, with all the mystic atmosphere of the tropics. Mention -must also be made of an excellent full-page drawing by Dick Horc. This drawing will make a particularly strong appeal to all country readers. In the woman’s section there is a very useful article on the home manufacture of hand made flowers. This should interest not only the fair sex, but the unfair sex. The whole of “Aussie” is good, and in addition to the leading articles, stagery, etc., there are two pages of really fine reviews of books of the period —a sufficient feast for any taste.
