ROYAL THEATRE. There are very few gamblers who wouldn’t stoop to underhand play if the stakes are big enough. The gambler hero of “Caught Bluffing,” Frank Mayo’s latest UniversalJewell starring vehicle, which will be screened at the Royal Theatre to-morrow night deviates a bit from his strictly above-board policy when- the stake in the game is the girl he loves and a winning hand means her life and honour. Comedy “The Radio Hound.” On Thursday night Harry Carey will be seen in his newest feature, “The Fox.” It is unusual in many respects. Gripping, pulsating from the start. “The Fox” is one picture in a thousand. Comedy: “Around the Comer.” Oh Wednesday and Thursday Mr Abel Rowe will conduct community singing at the Royal in conection with the pictures. See advertisement.
THE CABARET. The large attendance each week at these popular gatherings contin- . ues to increase. The pictures exhibited are some of the best that come to Foxton. Each . one leaves for Feilding, coming direct from r Wanganui. This week Ethel Clay- ** ton will appear in a startling mystery play as only Paramount can produce. How an innocent girl confessed to a crime she did not commit and her startling reasons for doing so make an exceptionally good story. On Thursday “Nero and Agrippina” will be screened. This production was privately screened on Saturday afternoon and was pronounced a huge success. Some of the scenes are really wonderful. It has transpired that the production is an Italian one and it is quite free from any Americanisms nearly always met with in pictures nowadays. The whole film was taken in Italy, but the titles of course are written in English. The story is exciting, depicting how Agrippina schemed to place her son on the throne, even going to the length of poisoning the Emperor, Claudius, to attain her fell desire. What came of her scheming and how her son took her life as depicted by the soothsayer, and of Nero’s tragic end makes as interesting a picture as. we have seen.
