STATE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS.
The chairman of the local school committee received a telegram from the secretary of the Education Board to-day to the effect that the grant for the outbuildings and drainage had now been approved. Mr Hodge, architect to the Wanganui Education Board, visited Foxton yesterday and conferred with the chairman of the local school committee re installation of water and drainage and erection of new outhouses. Mr Hodge said that be had conferred with the Department re the plans, which together with the grant, had been approved and the work would be undertaken at an early date at a cost of approximately £9OO. In reference to using the corridor for class room purposes, he said this owuld cause inconvenience and, besides, tell corridor was too draughty. He suggested that the committee make application for an extra class-room to accommodate the infants, which in his opinion was justified.
