SCHOOL AT THE SEASIDE.
POSITION OF VISITING PUPILS,
The position of pupils of Palmerston North schools who are temporarily attending the school at the local seaside was discussed at the meeting of the Terrace End School Committee on Tuesday evening. It was stated that the school at the beach was established for the education of children whose parents were resident there.
The headmaster pointed out that children, even temporarily attending such a school, had to be officially transferred there from, say Terrace End, which was overcrowded and liad a waiting list. The position then was that any of its pupils attending the beacli school were liable to be refused admission to Terrace End. On their return to a town school it was necessary that they exhibit a certificate of transfer from the school which they had, in the interim, been attending. ' We may point out that the school was not established to suit the convenience of parents who desired to prolong their holidays at the seaside but for children of permanent residents at the locality.
