The largest nickel deposits in the world are at Sudbury, Canada. American astronomers are reported to have discovered a large number of suns, for a long time obscured in the havens. It is believed by lovers of out-door summer sports that ours must be dodging about among them. Jack Johnson, conqueror of Jim Jeffries and former heavyweight champion of the world, has been boxing daily in the gymnasium at Madison Square Garden, and has been performing so well that he will shortly appeal to the Boxing Commission for permission to engage in a series of ring contests in New York State. Johnson believes that he can defeat Harry Wills. The first case of the kind in the Dominion was heard at Oliakune on Tuesday, when the Forestry Department charged three youths with setting fire to scrub near the State forest at Eura. Two of the charges were withdrawn and one youth was fined the minimum of £2 and costs. The magistrate severely admonished the youths, pointing out the gravity of the offence.
