RIFLE SHOOTING.
The secretary of the logal rifle club has received the programme of the Wairarapa Rifle Association’s annual meeting, to be held at Papawai, near -Greytown, on 23rd, 24th and 26th February. The total prize money amounts to £BOO and tyros are well provided for. Entries close with the secretary (A. L. Webster, Box 3, Greytown), at, 8 p.m. on February 19th. Entrance fees for all matches, £5.
Mr H. T. Marshall,, chairman of the National Rifle Association of New Zealand, writing in connection with the N.Z. Championship meeting in March next and re membership tickets, states: — “In order to assist the secretary, plase return membership books and money to him not later than February 7th. It is hoped that you will make a special final effort.to dispose of as many tickets as possible.
“Please make known the following further particulars in connection with the meeting. A first-class caterer has been engaged and guarantees good' meals,, the charge for which will be only 5/- per day. In response to request by competitors, crockery has been secured in place of enamelware, and luneli will include salad and tomatoes, etc. Three blankets, groundsheet, palliasse, straw, and a bed will be provided at 5/- for the meeting. Huts will again be available. In reply to enquiries, match rifles and barrels are allowed. .. . ”
The secretary of the local club (Mr H. Frankland) still has a few membership tickets Jeft, and anyone wishing to help forward the newly formed N.R.A. should apply for same without delay.
