A farmer well-known in the Calvados district has died in tragic circumstances says a message from Paris. He was much affected by the recent, death of his wife and his despair became so great that, deciding he could no longer continue his existence, he took a chair and, placing it beside his wife’s grave, sat down and ate a baked apple which he had filled with strychnine. He died later in great agony.
