A CRIMINAL RUMOUR.
(To the Editor.) Sir,- —I just wish to oppose a criminal rumour that has been ungratefully circulated by some badmeaning person, that the Silver Band instruments will, in the end, be my own property after the public have been asked to pay for them. Indeed, the Band is a registered body, forced to come so by the dissolution of the old band and by the resolution of the Borough Council. The registration Act read that in the winding up of the society, three of its members shall be appointed as liquidators and to hold all property in trust for some other body having objects similar to the society. I trust this will be sufficient to induce the public to support the registered Band in the acquirement of hightoned instruments that belong to the town. As to the amalgamated hands, this is hut a hogev and A new experiment of some novice who is not a bandsman. If one or two bandsmen do no! wish to see eye to eye with us, then il does not really matter much. I will make a personal call myself and will satisfactorily explain anything required. J. GOLDER.
