A pairs tournament was held on the local green on Wednesday. The conditions of play were four games on the progressive principle, wins to count, and in the event of a tye, the aggregate points to decide. For the skips, Nye was successful with four wins and an aggregate of 54 points, Christie being second with three wins and an aggregate of 54 points. For the leads, Ball came first with four wins and 51 points, Spiers being runner-up with three wins and 46 points. The following are the details:— SKIPS. Nye, 16, 12, 14, 12 —54 points, 4 wins. The next round of the Triangular Contest is set down for Wednesday the 17th inst. Roore and Admore represented the local Club in the match Country Clubs v. Queensland Bowlers, yesterday. The aggregate scores of the match were: —Manawatu 96, ■ Queensland 92. Rain interfered with play to some extent, but very good bowling resulted in all games and play was therefore very interesting. A party of New South Wales bowlers, who are shortly to tour the Dominion, will visit Palmerston N. at the end of January. Wednesday next, January 10, and Saturday, January 13, have been set aside for the gala days of the Manawatu Centre when the following clubs have been invited to send rinks: — Wednesday, January 10, at Ter- Cfc race End green: Palmerston North, Manawatu, Feilding-and Northern, " two each. Saturday, January 13, at Shannon green: Levin, Foxton and Pal- 1 merston North, two rinks each; "-hi Manawatu, Terrace End and Nor- - them one each.
