A PATHETIC APPEAL.
TO FATHER CHRISTMAS. TWAS NOT UNHEEDED. The other day a letter was received at the Wellington G.P.0., addressed, “Father Christmas, Post Office, Wellington.’’ It said, “Dear Father Christmas : I am a poor little hoy in Feilding suffering from asthma, and spend most of my time in bed. lam writing to ask you to send me a book as i am fond of reading, but Mum says there arc so many little boys and girls in Wellington that you will not he able to send me this hook, but when you take into consideration the facts of the case, you will, I ain sure, send mo something to read." The letter was referred to the assistant postmaster, who handed it over ito the superintendent <>f mails. It was then handed to one of the young ladies at llie delivery counter, who went round the office and in a few minutes £.l was subscribed. A voluiße of “Chums" wapurchased, the lahmce being expended in swee -i and these were sent to the post) taster, at Feilding, to deliver to the littol boy with the compliments of jFalher Christmas, Post Office, Welljigton."
