CHEAPER POSTAGE RATES
AND TELEGRAPH CHARGES. ANNOUNCED BY POSTMASTERGENERAL. The Postmaster-General on Thursday announced reductions in post and telegraph charges totalling about. £300,000 a year. Letter postage is to be reduced from 2d to ltd and newspaper postage from Id to id. The charges for telegrams will be: ordinary, 9d for 12 words: urgent, Is lid for 12 words: nightletter, 9d for 27 words. The new scale will come into force on February 1 next.
